WATCH: AOC Lashes Out At Trump Over McDonald’s Visit, Blasts Elon Musk for GOP Activism
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) recently slammed former President Donald Trump for his recent visit to a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, where he put on an apron and worked in the kitchen serving up fries. AOC also took a shot at multi-billionaire Elon Musk, who has pledged to give $1 million to a random person in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, every day until the election for those who sign a conservative petition.
Particularly with Trump, many have seen his latest display of charismatic interaction with the general public at the Pennsylvania fast-food restaurant as an example of his willingness to put himself in the shoes of average Americans and represent their interests. Furthermore, Musk’s local activism in the swing state where he is giving away life-changing amounts of money to residents, demonstrates his belief in the Make America Great Again agenda.
However, the progressive “Squad” member believes their boots-on-the-ground engagement in the battleground state is “making fun” of everyday citizens. During a speech on Sunday evening for the Harris-Walz campaign, Ocasio-Cortez said, “We see Elon Musk coming in here. I mean, we gotta talk about what this guy’s doing.”
Continuing to blast the Tesla founder, she said, “He’s not only just dumping millions and millions of dollars here in the state of Pennsylvania, acting like he’s from here, acting like he knows what Pennsylvania is about. It’s not just what he’s doing, he’s doing these little, I don’t know, these little contests where he’s promising people a million dollars in some kind of lottery giveaway if they sign up for his list.”
“And I want us to put together what those two things are like when you have a billionaire just dangling a million bucks to those of us, and many of us who are struggling to make ends meet, if they dance for him,” she continued in her criticism against Musk. Turning her sights on Trump, AOC said, “You’ve got Donald Trump putting on a little McDonald’s costume because he thinks that’s what people do.”
According to AOC, Trump and Musk are not legitimately concerned with the interests of the residents of Pennsylvania. “They’re not trying to empathize with us. They are making fun of us,” she said. “They are making fun of us. Donald Trump thinks that people who work at McDonald’s are a joke. Elon Musk thinks that dangling money in front of a working person is a cute thing to do when the election of our lives is before us, because that’s what people and billionaires like that do.”
The X account for the America PAC founded by Elon Musk shared a clip of AOC’s comments writing, “AOC accuses Elon Musk of “making fun of” working class people by selecting voters to earn $1 Million for signing the petition in support of Free Speech & Right to Bear Arms. They’re literally supporting the Constitution which you supposedly took an oath to support and defend.”
